When I became an aunt

It was 15 years ago today. I remember waiting in the hospital for word that it was OK to go meet Sea Girl (I don't remember what we called her in this blog, but this fits for now) for the first time, along with all the grandparents and some other relatives. During that visit, I got a glimpse of her and how thrilled everyone was to welcome her to this world, but the new parents weren't ready to pass her around quite yet - she was only a few minutes old, y'know.

I can't remember exactly why, but I returned to the hospital a little later that day - either to bring something or just check on the littleĀ one. Because I was by myself and not part of an overwhelming crowd, I got to hold her.

I was so gratified by all the encouraging comments I got from yesterday's post - some of them brought me to tears (and I don't cry at the drop of a hat). Typically I try to process my feelings internally and talk myself out of my slumps, but yesterday I couldn't get rid of the urge to share. So thank you for listening and for giving me the boost I obviously needed.

Even when we have days like yesterday, I still get that we have it pretty good. Even better than that - things are great.

Yay for grandparents! A huge part of this has to do with the constant presence of the Boo's grandparents in our lives. As I've mentioned, he is a creature of routine, and one of his routines is to have weekly sleepovers at each of his grandparents' houses. They've always been ready to
