Don't you hate it when you have a dream that's so sad and so vivid that you wake up sobbing and can't get back to sleep without trying to calm yourself down first so you get up and start a new, long overdue blog entry with a run-on sentence? My hormones are apparently hard at work tonight. Fortunately, I've never had a precognitive dream in my life ... unless I'm just really bad at interpreting them.

Regardless, here I am balancing a kitty and a computer on my lap. I have to be awake in a couple of hours to start getting ready for Kiki's first soccer session of the season, but there's no way I can get back to sleep without some kind of distraction. I've been meaning to post something here anyway, so why not get two things done at once?

Can't sleep. Again.

If this happens to me before 4 a.m. or so, I usually just lie in bed and try to bore myself to sleep. It didn't work this time, though, so I gave up. At least it's Sunday, so there's a chance I'll be able to catch an afternoon nap.

Of course, seeing him always makes me think of when Kiki was that age ... so cute and so difficult. I was tired all the time and felt like a giant slug just crawling from one day to the next.

Kind of like now.

I honestly don't remember being this tired when I was pregnant with Kiki ... not at the beginning anyway. But I also wasn't on hormone supplements, which I've read can make people sleepy.

It's Sunday, the only day of the week that I'm really able to sleep past 7. Kiki is with Grandpa and Grandma, and we don't have to hurry off to school or soccer.

Too bad that I've been awake for more than an hour already, and it's just 6 a.m.

Some people do this every day, and I've considered trying to shift my schedule. The problem is that I enjoy the 9 p.m. to midnight time slot too much to go to bed early. The kid is in bed and I've had a productive day - in an ideal scenario, on both counts - it's really the time I'm allowed to relax. Unless I'm ill or feeling really exhausted, I'm never compelled to cut that short.

This will probably be one of the "really exhausted" nights, though, unless I manage to sneak in a nap.

I'm not sure what got me up. Scratch that - I do know;
